It’s Going To Take Longer Than You Think To “Make It”

No matter how rational we tried to be when we got started down the road of entrepreneurship, a big part of the draw for us was the larger than life success stories we read or heard about. Those stories are indeed inspiring and ones we can and should model.

The problem with those stories is there are a lot of scenes that are left on the cutting room floor. We’re seeing the final well-edited cut on a social media post or in a book.

What’s missing are the gaps. The period of struggle, failure, loss, fear, small wins, losses, ups, and downs.

The clearest way to untangle distorted expectations is to reset them with this simple but powerful idea… it’s going to take longer than you think to really succeed.

That does not mean there are not little wins along the way. We should celebrate the small wins, embrace them as a source of motivation to keep going. They are the steps to the bigger wins we want.

It’s who we’re becoming in the little wins that help us actually achieve bigger things. The big results are a composite of who we’ve become as a result of little compounding wins and consistency over time, not some…
