A Deceivingly Simply Solution For Self-Sabotage
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about focus, alignment, and self-sabotage. This would be the longest FB post even if we went into all those topics but something kept standing out in recent weeks as I’ve been sifting through and sorting my business life…
… overcomplicating is a key trait of self-sabotage.
Because if we can muddy up our waters enough it leaves us paralyzed to move forward. Because moving forward often means growth, change, doing scary or uncomfortable things and none of that sounds fun so we overcomplicate everything to sabotage progress.
DaVinci said it well, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
Whatever industry you’re in, whatever thing you’re building, I bet that the most successful people are the ones who have gotten great at simple things. Note I didn’t say easy things… simple things.
Simple tends to be the work that isn’t sexy but when done consistently over time yields big results.
This came up hard and fast for me when I realized my life mirrored my internet browser. WAY too many tabs open. I’ve been going what seems to be a million miles wide with about one inch of depth.
