My 3 Words For 2020

A few years back I embraced an exercise I learned about from Chris Brogan where I choose three words that will act as my themes and focus for the upcoming year. For those interested in learning more about this exercise from Chris, here’s a nice summary of that.

I started this year a little differently than previous ones. I did a public post on my Facebook wall, grading myself on my performance with last year's three words.

I got a C, B-, and a C+. Not exactly the honor roll but also not horrible.

This review of the previous year's performance slowed me down a bit to really think about my three words for 2020.

After a little processing, I feel solid about the direction this year. So here goes…

Word #1 — Lean

As I look back at 2019 and the immediate years proceeding it I couldn’t help but sense a nagging bloating around my work and my life. Any of us that work in and around the internet and entrepreneurship are engaged in a minute by minute battle for our focus.
